What a crazy week it has been! Earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding, blackouts. Sometimes it feels like the end of the world.
This newsletter deals with disasters and introduces a new idea I have been toying with for a while now that might explain the Classic Maya collapse, widely regarded as one of the greatest mysteries of archaeology. I also briefly discuss my first travel journal, from Palenque in 1996, which I have uploaded to www.chichibel.com.
